Casefile is an Australian narrative of true-crime cases told in a careful, anonymous host voice, with the emphasis on chronology and sourcing.

They are written to be exhaustive rather than chatty. A listener who wants banter will be impatient. A listener who wants the sequence of a case, including the boring official parts, is the audience.

The show’s restraint became its signature. The host does not brand himself over the victims. That choice is why the series is recommended by people who are otherwise tired of the genre.

Pick a single case and finish it. Multi-part episodes are labeled. Starting in the middle of a multi-part is how the show becomes a blur of names.
