Embedded is NPR’s slot for reported series that need a season, not a day. A team moves into one story and stays.

The subjects change: a network, a scandal, a system. Correspondents gather tape, and the host of that season walks you through what they were allowed to see.

It is the institutional home for the narrative work that will not fit Up First. When Embedded is good, you learn the geography of a place you had only heard as a headline.

Treat each series as its own show. The episode titles usually name which series you are about to enter.
