The Protocol is a New York Times narrative series about medical care for transgender young people: where the treatment model came from, who it changed, and the political fight around it.

The episodes follow clinicians, patients, families, and critics, including the Dutch research that became a template and the reviewers who later challenged it. The tone is reported, not a rally.

Whatever a listener brings to the subject, the series is built as a history of a medical protocol under pressure. Scenes are clinics, reviews, and living rooms. The legislation arrives as consequence.

The early episodes explain the care. The later ones are about the backlash and the evidence fights. Hearing only one end of that sequence is a different show.
