Mystery Show is Starlee Kine solving mysteries that are too small for the police and too stubborn for a search box.
A missing belt buckle, a novelty license plate, a question that has been annoying one person for years. Kine treats the errand as a detective story, with digressions that are the actual point.
Gimlet released two short seasons and then stopped. The show’s reputation comes from that scarcity and from Kine’s willingness to stay on the phone past the moment a normal interviewer would wrap.
There are only a handful of cases. The method is the pleasure, and the method is established by watching her get lost.
