Making Gay History is Eric Marcus opening his archive of interviews with LGBTQ people who were in the room when the movement was still a set of private risks.
You hear the original tape, then Marcus explaining who is speaking and what had not yet been named. Activists, artists, and people who never wanted a platform share the feed.
The series is a primary source that happens to be edited like a story. A chuckle in 1989 does more work than a montage of news clips.
The episodes are short and densely peopled. Keep a finger on the pause button if you want to hear a name twice.
